Global Health Conference (GHC) 2010 PDF Print E-mail

 

What is the Global Health Conference?

Hosted by the Australian Medical Student’s Association (AMSA), The Global Health Conference responds to a growing demand for focus on topics effecting human-kind on a global scale. From an inaugural cohort of 200 students in Sydney in 2005, the event has almost doubled in size, a testament to the interest among medical students and the ongoing high calibre of the conference.

During the conference delegates will learn about global health issues from internationally renowned keynote speakers.  You will be inspired by the work that is being done all over the world by specialists in their field, and be empowered with practical skills to help bring about real change through interactive workshops. Furthermore you will meet many likeminded people during the exciting Social Programme

Where: Hobart (Tasmania), Australia.

When: 1-4 July 2010. (Pre conference workshops 29-30 June)

Who can apply?

The Global Health Conference team would like to extend an invitation to Medical Students from the Asia-Pacific region, especially AMSA International members, to be a part of the conference.

The Australian Government has a scheme to subsidise all travel and accommodation costs* for delegates located in:

 

Afghanistan

Maldives

Cook Islands

Papua New Guinea

Bangladesh

Mongolia

Micronesia, Federated States

Samoa

Bhutan

Nepal

Fiji

Solomon Islands

Cambodia

Pakistan

Kiribati

Tokelau

China, (excl. H.K.)

Philippines

Marshall Islands

Tonga

East Timor

Sri Lanka

Nauru

Tuvalu

India

Thailand

Niue

Vanuatu

Indonesia

Vietnam

Palau Islands

Laos

 

Delegates from countries not in the above list are still eligible to apply, however will have to pay for their own travel, accommodation and registration costs.

How to apply:

· Provide a brief CV: including your Name, Age, Gender, Location, Medical School and year at medical school.

· Write short answers to the following questions:

o Describe a health issue that is prominent in your region.

o What do you aim to gain from GHC 2010 that will help you combat this issue when you are a doctor?

(Note: you will NOT be judged on your English skills.)
